I spent some time talking with Dr. Blake Wu about pre and post workout nutrition. There is a lot of misinformation about this subject floating around out there and the truth is, it really doesn't have to be that complecated. For most of us, eating real, whole nutrient dense food all the time will be enough. The types of nutrients and the timing of their intake most likely has a negligible effect overall.
I can hear some of you saying "But if I don't get my protein shake in immediately after my workout I'm gonna loose my gains." No you're not. Eat protein all day long and you will be fine. Let's be real, if you aren't achieving your fitness goals, it's not because of a lack of protein powder or supplements. There are probably much bigger holes in your diet that need to be fixed.
Just eat real food and you're good to go.
